The price of local government in 2017: Village of Olympia Fields

The Village of Olympia Fields budget was $16.95 million for its 2017 fiscal year, or $8,985 per household.

That's an increase of 13.6 percent from 2016, when the village spent $14.92 million, or $7,912 per household.

Olympia Fields has 1,886 households and a population of 4,988.

Since 2001, the Village of Olympia Fields budget has grown by 159.3 percent, from $6.53 million. The village population has grown 5.4 percent over the same period, from 4,732.

Salaries accounted for 21.8 percent of village spending in 2017. Olympia Fields property taxpayers paid $3.69 million for 42 full-time employees and 10 part-time employees.

In 2001, the village had 29 full-time employees and nine part-time employees, and spent $1.95 million.
