Village of Orland Park issued the following announcement on April 23.
Motorists in the Village of Orland Park can again join forces with village's Public Works Department to have potholes repaired.
The village's Pothole Hotline invites drivers to call in or report pothole locations on-line.
"The phone calls and on-line reports help our Public Works crews," said Orland Park Trustee Kathy Fenton, Public Works Committee chair. "We have more than 300 miles of roads in the village and our staff may not know about a problem unless it's reported.”
Orland Park's Pothole Hotline debuted in 2009, enabling those who travel through the village to quickly report areas needing repair.
Potholes are common in areas known for ice, snow and below freezing temperatures. The freezing and thawing cycles allow moisture to seep into voids in the road surface, causing the road to crumble.
If the pothole is not within the village's jurisdiction, Public Works staff will notify the responsible agency --- Orland or Palos Township, Cook or Will County or the State of Illinois.
Potholes in the village are filled by the Streets Division of the Public Works Department.
Director of Public Works John Ingram said, "Weather permitting, we're planning a two business day turn around in most instances.”

Those reporting are asked to give their names, addresses and phone numbers as well as the locations of the potholes, including the nearest cross streets.
