Village of Chicago Ridge issued the following announcement on May 14.
The Village of Chicago Ridge Public Works Department is seeking applicants for the position of Summer Seasonal Laborer. Key responsibilities include: performing unskilled labor in the Streets, Water and Sewer Divisions; operating a variety of equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of water, sanitary sewer, street, and storm drainage facilities and systems.
Primary Duties Include:
Perform pavement maintenance, repair, removal, and disposal;
Perform parkway/roadside maintenance removal of stump cuttings, back-filling, repairing, and seeding disturbed parkway areas;
Brush and bush trimming; mowing roadside vegetation and other public properties;
Assist with installing traffic control, street signage, and pavement markings;
Lift, carry, and/or wheel heavy material;
Setting up for special events;
Other tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Working knowledge of general public works labor activities;
Must be able to lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.;
Ability to read, clearly speak, and legibly write the English language;
