Former state university employee Cline paid in $59K to pension fund, could collect $826K in retirement

Former state university employee Susan Cline, who retired in January 2018, saved $58,742 toward a pension over 10 years working for state universities, State Universities Retirement System of Illinois records show.

Over 30 years of retirement, Cline would collect as much as $826,402, according to a projection by Local Government Information Services (LGIS), which publishes South Cook News.

The projection assumes Cline received $17,370 in the first year of retirement, then 3 percent annual increases thereafter, compounded.

After 4 years of retirement, Cline will have already received $72,670 in retirement benefits, or more than the sum total of the retiree's contributions to the state pension fund.
