The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Blue Island was called to order by Mayor Vargas at 7:00 p.m. on April 9, 2019.

PUBLIC COMMENT
Carol Dipace-Greene thanked Chief Lasalle King for his years of service..
Bob Jackson announced that there would be an Easter Egg Hunt at the John D. Rita Recreation Center April 13th from 11am - 4pm.
Thomas Madrigal thanked Chief Lasalle King for his years of service to the City.
Jackie Murphy from Three Sisters Antiques is hoping that the new City Council will work together and support the Blue Island businesses,
Marcia Stone thanked Lasalle King for his years of service to the City and asked that
Candace Carr not be reappointed to the Public Health & Safety Committee.
Rochelle Orozco thanked Public Works for taking care of problems before needing to report them. She proceeded to thank Lasalle King for his service to the City and also asked that Candace Carr be removed from the Public Health & Safety Committee.
Barbara Ennis invited all to attend a seminar on Domestic Violence against Senior Citizens on April 27 at 12PM.
Teddy Aguilera, a 65 grader from St. Benedicts School, presented Lasalle King with a Poster Board created by fellow students to commemorate his years with the City.
Reverend Peter Contreras thanked Chief Lasalle King for his years of service to the City of Blue Island and asked that we all start working together.
Alderman Carr apologized to Chief Lasalle King if she made him feel any less of a Chief.
Lasalle King accepted Alderman Carr's apology and thanked everyone for their support over his 21 years serving Blue Island.

A RESOLUTION HONORING POLICE CHIEF LASALLE KING FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITY OF BLUE ISLAND.

Life Saving Medal Awards were presented to Officers Daniel Ramos and Brian Holwell for saving the life of a man with severe bleeding by applying a tourniquet to his arm before the EMT unit arrived thereby saving his life.
Mayor Vargas informed the Council that the bunting was up on City Hall for the Secretary to three Police Chiefs, Gerry Kirschner, had passed away last weekend.

Motion to approve a request from Park Lawn for their annual Tag and Candy Day Fundraiser on
Friday & Saturday, April 12th & 13th and Friday & Saturday, April 196 and 20th, 2019 from 6:00am until 8:00pm or dusk.

ALDERMANIC ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMENTS
Alderman Fahrenwald recognized the newly elected aldermen in the audience and encouraged anyone interested in running in two years to do so.
Attorney Horvath said that enjoyed working with Chief Lasalle King and he will miss him.
