City of Hickory Hills Council met April 11.

CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Mike Howley at 7:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

Alderman Stachnik moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

CLOSE TO THE PUBLIC
Alderman Waight moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman Waight moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of March 28, 2019 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Fonte second. Roll call: Aldermen Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. Alderman Ferrero pass. So approved.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
Mayor Howley noted the agreement with District 117 that is on the agenda tonight will be moved to the next meeting. The City Attorney is reviewing this emergency agreement.
Mayor Howley read the Arbor Day Proclamation. Arbor Day will be held on Saturday, May 4th at City Hall.
Mayor Howley reported on Wednesday, April 3rd he attended Conrady’s Soapbox Speeches. He noted a few will be presented at a future Council meeting.
Mayor Howley thanked City Engineer Mike Spolar and Public Works Director Sue Lehr for their contributions in the conversation with Cook County. The City recently applied for an “Invest in Cook County Grant” and are awaiting notice if the City will receive funds.
CITY CLERK
Clerk Catizone reported Boxing for the Troops will take place on Tuesday, April 16th at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Center.
CITY TREASURER
Treasurer Schramm presented the Treasurer’s Report dated March 31, 2019 for approval. Alderman McHugh moved to approve the March 31, 2019 Treasurer’s Report. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
Treasurer Schramm stated at the last meeting there was some discussion on the budget meetings schedule. He would like to move this discussion to “Unfinished Business”.

BILLS PAYABLE
Alderman Szeszycki moved to approve the bills payable for the first half of April 2019 in the amount of $537,229.42. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.

Alderman Zimmerman distributed a flyer regarding a donation request for Alyssa Munoz. She is suffering from kidney failure at Hope Children’s Hospital. Alderman Zimmerman moved to approve a $200.00 donation to Alyssa Munoz. Alderman Stachnik second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
Ms. Lehr reported the City has once again been approved as a Tree City USA. There were many activities in 2018 that aided in the approval such as spending $2.00 per capita, raising public awareness and planting trees in celebration of the Arbor Day holiday.

Waight/Laws & Ordinances
Alderman Waight is in receipt of one business certificate application for Aroma Trading Corp.located at 9831 S. 78th Avenue. This is a warehouse that will be selling spices to area stores and restaurants. No objections were noted.

Ferrero/Community Affairs/Youth Advisory
Alderman Ferrero reported she has 6 vendors who will be attending the Arbor Day Tree Sale on May 4th.
Alderman Ferrero noted she is working on the bands for the Street Fair in June.
Alderman McHugh stated after some discussion it was the consensus of the Council to go with the Bar Bingo at the Street Fair.
Kman/Chamber Business Development

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Treasurer Schramm stated at the last Committee meeting it was discussed to postpone the budget meeting schedule until after the April 2nd election. After a short discussion, budget meetings will be postponed until May or June or until the Treasurer elect notifies department heads.
Alderman Ferrero questioned as to when the planting beds around the street poles on 95th Street will be replenished? Ms. Lehr will have someone look at the location she mentioned (85th and 95th Street).
Alderman McHugh noted with regards to the rodent issue behind the “Dirty Sock” he has talked with the owner. He stated he has been very cooperative.
NEW BUSINESS
Mayor Howley is in receipt of a request from the Kiwanis Club. They are requesting a donation to send 10 students to camp. Alderman Ferrero moved to approve a donation of $150.00 to the Kiwanis Club. Alderman Kman second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Szeszycki, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
