Village of Tinley Park issued the following announcement on July 11.

Don’t let the fact that Tinley Park is nowhere near an ocean fool you – every year, the Village brings the spirit of the tropics to the Midwest during its annual Downtown Tinley Block Party!

The free summer bash will take place from noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 21 along Oak Park Avenue in Downtown Tinley. Those looking for fun won’t be disappointed, as the activities this year are the best they've ever been!

Sign up to participate in the Bean Bag Tournament at 1 p.m., and start throwing bags at 2 p.m. in the Matt’s TV parking lot.

The North KidZone will be located in the lot next to Subway and will include nine holes of mini golf, a giant slide, music by Electric Blue DJ Entertainment, airbrush tattoos, crafts and the Aloha Chicago Show (with hula lessons) at 3 p.m.

The South KidZone will be located in the Oak Park Avenue train station parking lot and will feature bumper cars, the Tree Frog Hopper ride, crafts, the Ultimate Wave photo opportunity, the Tropical Adventure inflatable and a Zipline.

Come out to the South Stage and listen to the Walk-Ins at noon and Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band at 4 p.m., or visit the north stage for South of Disorder at noon and ARRA at 4 p.m. Other music will include the Island Life Unplugged lineup at 17302 S.
