City of Palos Heights Municipal Grounds and Property Committee met May 28.

Here is the agenda provided by the committee:

CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Basso called the Municipal Grounds and Property Committee meeting to order at 7:08 p.m. at the Palos Heights City Hall, 7607 W. College Drive. In attendance were Chairman Basso, Alderman Bylut, and Alderman Lewandowski, Adam Jasinski, Dan Nisavic, Aurimas Spucys (Morris Engineering) and Recording Secretary Margaret Carey. Absent was Alderman Kramarski.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Chairman Basso moved to approve the minutes of the Municipal Grounds and Property Committee meeting held on April 23, 2019, seconded by Alderman Bylut. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.

PUBLIC COMMENT – none.

LIGHT POLES AND LANDSCAPING AT CITY HALL

Public Works Director Adam Jasinski reminded the Committee that at the last meeting they approved the purchase of 2 light poles for the driveway entrance to City Hall. Now we need to discuss landscape options. Jasinski presented the Committee with “Option A” and “Option B” prepared by J.G.S. Landscape Architects. The overall plan also includes landscaping for the corner area of 76th Avenue and College Drive. The Committee selected Option A – which includes hedges. Chairman Basso reminded Jasinski that the hedges should the dominant aspect of the Option selected.

A Motion was made by Alderman Basso to approve the project with “Option A” from JGS Landscape Architects in an amount not to exceed $19,375.00, seconded by Alderman Bylut. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. Agenda

REPLACEMENT OF STOREFRONT WINDOWS ON THE WEST SIDE OF CITY HALL

Public Works Director Adam Jasinski requested approval to replace the west side windows, to match the front of the City Hall building. 3 quotes were gathered, with the lowest quote from 3F in the amount of $19,900. Public Works will complete the trim work inside the building.

A Motion was made by Alderman Basso to approve the purchase and installation of the storefront windows as described from 3F in the amount of $19,900.00, seconded by Alderman Bylut. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. Agenda

WELOME SIGNS UPDATE

Public Works Director Adam Jasinski updated the committee. The first sign has arrived. We are now waiting for IDOT approval to install it. We want to install the first one before ordering the rest. There will be 6 new signs in all.

MOTOR VEHICLE MAINTENANCE

 Our mechanics are doing a great job keeping up with education. Currently they are taking an electronic ignition troubleshooting class.

 We have been busy changing all tires over from winter to summer.

OAK LAWN WATER MAIN GRADING PLAN

Director Jasinski presented a Grading Plan for the Committee to review. This plan is part of the MOU with the Oak Lawn Regional Water Service (RWS) for a Water Transmission Main Project that was approved at City Council on May 21, 2019. Morris Engineering reviewed the plan. Once construction is over, the area will be 2 feet higher, but we are not adding any runoff to the area. It can take up to 3 years for the ground to set. There will be repairs along the way.

A motion was made by Alderman Basso to approve the Grading Plan as presented, seconded by Alderman Bylut. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. Agenda

NEW BUSINESS

The new Butterfly sculpture has been delivered and will be installed.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Chairman Basso moved to adjourn, seconded by Bylut. All in favor. Meeting adjourned 7:36pm.
