Call to Order

The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Blue Island was called to order by Mayor Vargas at 7 p.m. on September 11, 2018.

Journal of Proceedings

Motion by Ald. Poulos, second by Ald. Pittman to approve the City Council Minutes from August 28, 2018.

Nays: 0

There being Nine (9) Affirmative Votes, the Mayor declared the motion carried

Public Comment

Ald. Carr brought up one of her constituents (Jose Alvarez at 12018 Elm Drive) concerns regarding the golf course.

Jude Coyle, 15208 Kostner Avenue, announced Angel's Touch will be having a benefit on October 6 at Double Play. She asked that anybody interested in donating a basket or doing a food drive to get in contact with her.

Report of City Officials

Mayor: Resolution No. 2018-026 A Resolution of Respect For Suzie Esparza.

Motion by Ald. Bilotto, second by Ald. Donahue to approve Resolution No. 2018-026.

There being Ten (10) Affirmative Votes, the Mayor declared the motion carried.

The Blue Island Park District and City of Blue Island was awarded with the Best of the Best Intergovernmental Cooperation. The Park District's Executive Director, Tom Wogan, gave a presentation.

There will be a meeting regarding the Cal Sag Trail Update on Monday, September 24 at 7 p.m. in the East Annex.

City Clerk:

Motion by Ald. Rita, second by Ald. Bilotto to approve a request from the Blue Island Untouchables to have their annual Home Coming Parade on Saturday, September 29, 2018 beginning at 10:00 a.m, until 12:00 p.m.

Ayes: 10 Donahue, Hawley, Fahrenwald, Thompson, Carr, Pittman, Poulos, Frausto, Bilotto, Rita

Motion by Ald. Pittman, second by Ald. Frausto to approvea request from Friends of the Park to hold their Trunk or Treat at Memorial Park on Sunday, October 29, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Ordinance No. 2018-047

An Ordinance Prohibiting Parking Upon a Portion of A Certain Street Within the City of Blue Island, County Of Cook, State of Illinois and Providing Penalties for the Violation Thereof.

Motion by Ald. Rita, second by Ald. Donahue to table Ordinance No. 2018-047

Aldermanic Announcements/Comments

Ald. Hawley announced that the house walk will be on Sunday, September 16 at noon. Ald. Carr thanked Officer Colone for over 20 years of service to the city.

Motion by Ald. Pittman, second by Ald. Poulos to adjourn the meeting.

Upon a vote, the Mayor declared the motion carried.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:03p.m.
