City of Burbank City Council met March 11.

Here is the minutes provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7.30 PM by Mayor Dan M. Foy in the Council Chambers at 6530 West 79m Street Burbank, IL.

Mayor Foy requested a roll call which indicated the following members present: Alderwoman Barb Gagle, Alderman Robert Contreras, Alderwoman Sheri Gustafson, Alderman Claude Haerr' Alderman John Pacella, Alderman Mitchell Piznarski, Alderman Jason Pyle, Mayor Dan M. Foy, Clerk Barry J. Szymczak and City Attorney Gary Perlman. Absent: Treasurer Dean Viverito

Mayor Foy then asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mayor Foy asked for a motion to approve the minutes of February 26,2020. 'fhe motion was made by Alderman Contreras and seconded by Alderman Pacella with unanimous approval by voice vote and so declared by the Chair.

Mayor Foy then asked for a motion to approve the current list of bills. The motion was made by Alderman Contreras and seconded by Alderwoman Gagle. A roll call indicated TAyes and 0 NaysVoting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Cotrtreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Alderman Jason Pyle made a motion seconded by Alderman Pacella to adopt Ordinance # 7-3-20 providing for an appropriation for the fiscal year beginning January 7, 2020 and ending December 3l , 2020 for the City of Burbank, Cook County, Illinois. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman f{aerr, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle'

Alderman Robert Contreras made a motion seconded by Alderwoman Gagle to adopt Ordinance # 9-3-20 approving the Newland Resubdivision Plat of Construction for the property located at824l, 8243 ani 8245 South Newland and 8228 South New England Burbank, Illinois. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Alderman Contreras then made a motion seconded by Alderwoman Gagle to adopt Ordinance # l0-3-20 authorizingaspecial use to allow the use and operation ofa hotel on the properties located at 5501 West 79ft Stre;t, 5512 State Road and 7958 State Road, Burbank,Illinois. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Alderwoman Barb Gagle made a motion seconded by Alderman Contreras to adopt Ordinance #8-3-20 amending Chapter 2, Administration, Section 2-347, Age; Qualifications; Health, of the Municipal Code of the City of Burbank, Illinois. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Aiderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle. This ordinance refers to qualifications 9fentry level Public Safety candidates.

Alderwoman Gagle then made a motion seconded by Alderwoman Gustafson to hire Police candidate Piotr Bilek as Police Officer for the Burbank Police Department. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Aiderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle. The candidate was sworn in by Commissioner Chris Wiest of the Fire / Police Commission. Mayor Foy read a brief biography.

Alderwoman Gagle then made a motion seconded by Alderman Piznarski to hire Police candidate Kevin Rodrigueias Police Officer to the Burbank Police Department. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafsou, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle. The candidate was sworn in by Commissioner Chris Wiest of the Fire / Police Commission. Mayor Foy read a brief biography.

Alderwoman Gagle then made a motion seconded by Alderman Pyle to enter into an interagency Information Sharing Agreement between the Cook County Sheriffs Department and the City of Burbank. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Alderman Mitch Piznarski made a motion seconded by Alderman Pacella to approve a renewal agreement between the City of Burbank and Tandem Landscape Maintenance, LLC. for the 2020 / 79th Street Parkway Maintenance Program in the amount of $34,81 1.00. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella" Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Fire Chief Dave Gilgenberg II gave a brief explanation on the coronavirus situation. He informed the audience that all first responders and surrounding hospitals are prepared for all situations. The main focus is not to panic and use common sense. Avoid close contact with people who are sick. Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth. Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care. Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. For more information, research websites at IDPH.gov. and cdc.gov/COVID19. 

The Chair recognized Charles Bandusky 8548 South LaVergne who inquired about a problem with vagrants steeping near the entrance of Jewel Foods on Cicero. Mayor Foy said the City would look into the matter.

The Chair then recognized Frank Pryzttia 129 Pinehurst Court who asked for clarification on the Reavis High School referendum which is on the March 17th ballot. Mayor Foy stated that the City gave representatives  from Reavis a forum to explain the reasoning for the referendum and gave all in attendance ample opportunity to ask questions. Reavis also conducted a seminar recently at the school for the same reason.

Mayor Foy then asked any Reavis students who need their government class forms signed to approach any of the City Officials at the adjournment of the Council meeting.

There being no further business, the Chair asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Alderman Contreras and seconded by Alderman Pyle with unanimous voice approval and so declared by the Chair.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:48 P.M
