City of Burbank City Council met February 12

City of Burbank City Council met Feb. 12.

Here is the agenda provided by the council:

The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by Mayor Dan M. Foy in the Council Chambers at 6530 West 79th Street Burbank, IL

Mayor Foy requested a roll call which indicated the following members present: Alderwoman Barb Gagle, Alierman Robert Contreras, Alderwoman Sheri Gustafson, Alderman Claude Haerr, Alderman John Pacella, Alderman Mitchell Piznarski, Alderman Jason Pyle, Mayor Dan M. Foy, Clerk Barry J. Szvmezak, Treasurer Dean Viverito and City Attorney Vince Cainkar.

Mayor Foy then asked all to rise for the Pledge of Allegiance'

Mayor Foy asked for a motion to approve the minutes of January 22,2020' The motion was made by Alderman Contreras and seconded by Alderwoman Gagle with unanimous approval by voice vote and so declared bY the Chair.

Mayor Foy then asked for a motion to approve the current list of bills. The motion was made by Alderman Contreras and seconded by Alderman Pacella. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays.

Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella, Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Clerk Szymczak reported that City Hall would be closed on Monday February l7th in honor of President's Day.

Mayor Foy asked for a motion to adopt Ordinance #3-2-20 amending Section 3-3, Section 3-4 and Section 3-5 of Chapter 3, Alcoholic Beverages, of the Burbank Municipal Code establishing a new ,,Class C" Liquor License and License Fee. This ordinance allows the consumption of alcoholic beverages on the premise of service stations where there is a minimum fuel sales of 2,000,000 gallons-per calendar year. The motion was made by Alderwoman Gustafson and seconded by Alderman Pyle. A roll call indicated 7 Ayes and 0 Nays. Voting Aye: Alderwoman Gagle, Alderman Contreras, Alderwoman Gustafson, Alderman Haerr, Alderman Pacella Alderman Piznarski and Alderman Pyle.

Mayor Foy then introduced Dist. 220 Supt. Dan Riordan who gave a presentation on the proposed referendum on the March 2020 ballot in reference to the remodeling and additions to Reavis High School.

Mr. Riordan explained that the school district is asking for approval of a $45,000,000.00 bond issue for the renovation of portions of Reavis High School and the building of a new field house which would be located on the property now housing A.E.R.O. Special Education School. This referendum will be on the March l7 ,2020 ballot. The fields of interest for the improvements at Reavis H.S. would be in life safety, the technical wing and pool and the field house project. Dr' James Gunnell of A,E.R.O. informed the Council that the 11 districts involved with the Special Education Phase of this project purchased the Queen of Peace High School property for $3'25 million dollars and that the totai cost of the new building on that property would be approx' $50,000,000.00. Supt. Riordan stated that Reavis, with approval of the referendum, would either pay its share, which would be included in the referendum, in one lump sum or payments over 20 years. He also supplied informational packets to the Council which showed average property costs of homes in Burbank and a table to calculate the increase in property taxes. For example, the average cost of a home in Burbank was calculated at $174,200'00 which would be an increase in taxes of approx. $134.00 yearly according to Supt. Riordan.

Mayor Foy thanked Chief Gilgenberg for in-house repairs to one of the City's fire trucks which save a considerable amount of expenses and for the sale of 2 of the departments used ambulances.

The Chair recognized Frank Pryztula 129 Pinehurst who directed an inquiry about the Bond issue to Supt. Riordan who responded at the adjournment of the meeting.

Mayor Foy then asked any Reavis students who need their government class forms signed to approach any of the City Officials at the adjournment of the Council meeting.

There being no further business, the chair asked for a motion to adjourn. The motion was made by Alderman Contreras and seconded by Alderman Pyle with unanimous voice approval and so declared by the Chair.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 P.M.
