Q4 2019 Recap: Parolees in Alsip convicted of sex crimes

There were two offenders convicted of sex crimes released on parole in Alsip during the fourth quarter, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Cook News.

The data shows that both of the released offenders in Alsip were men. The younger parolee was a 34-year-old man sentenced in 2012. The other was a 39-year-old man sentenced in 2012.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Rafael F. Diaz. He was convicted of a sex crime in 2012 when he was 26 years old. He is now 34.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
