Despite COVID-19 cases still being diagnosed in Illinois, Orland Park plans to move forward with summer activities.
Orland Park Mayor has been planning summer like business as usual, even though he has received some blowback on social media for the decisions that he is making. On social media, there is an almost even mix of residents who support him and residents who do not..
“Although we continue to monitor the current environment and plan accordingly, we also have to plan for a phased reopening of the local economy, getting people back to work, and enjoying all of the great things that Orland Park has to offer," Mayor Keith Pekau said in the news release, as reported by The Chicago Tribune.
The first festivity is The Market in the Park, scheduled for June 4. It's open to the public and has food and drink availability.
Outside of that, the Summer Concert Series in Centennial Park is scheduled to start July 18.
