VILLAGE OF TINLEY PARK: Farmers Market returns in June

Farmers

Village of Tinley Park issued the following announcement on May 15.

If you’ve missed shopping for home-grown goods in Downtown Tinley, we have some good news! The Tinley Park Farmers Market will return in June with new procedures in place to protect shoppers and vendors from potential exposure to COVID-19.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s recent extension of the State’s “Stay at Home” order included new provisions that made farmers markets essential services statewide. This opened the door for the return of the Tinley Park Farmers Market, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturdays starting in June in the north parking lot of the Oak Park Avenue train station.

In order to provide the same great Farmers Market experience for shoppers while still keeping safety in mind, the following new rules will be in place:

There will be only one way in and one way out of the market, with a limited number of people allowed in the event area.

The market will include only essential items such as produce, prepared food, soap and masks.

Event staff will set up social distancing markers by the entrance and in front of each vendor tent to make sure people stay at least six feet away from each other.

All items will be pre-packaged. Customers will be unable to enter a vendor tent or touch products until they are paid for.

Customers will be unable to consume food in the event perimeter.

There will be no portable restrooms available for customers.

No dogs will be allowed in the event perimeter.

Everyone will be required to wear a face covering while in the event area, including the line to get in.

Vendors will not be handing cash back.

The Village will work with R Market to continue to evaluate the event and will make changes on a monthly basis if needed.
