Village of South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees met March 2.

Regular meeting was held at the Village Hall, 3317 Chicago Road, South Chicago Heights, Illinois. Mayor Terry Matthews called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance followed. Mayor Matthews requested Clerk Linan to call roll. The following were present:

APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES: Trustee Marrufo motioned to approve the Regular Board of Trustee meeting minutes of February 18, 2020, seconded by Trustee Bosco. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

AUDIENCE PARTICIPATION: None.

APPROVAL OF MANUAL CHECKLIST: Trustee Marrufo motioned to approve the manual check list of February 29, 2020, seconded by Trustee Marrufo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

APPROVAL OF BILL LIST: Trustee Marrufo motioned to approve the bill list of March 2, 2020, seconded by Trustee Bosco. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

TRUSTEE/COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Police Chief Joyce summarized an incident that took place back in November 2019. Chief Joyce stated that Lt. Kozinski assisted the Crete Police Department in apprehending two subjects in a armed robbery-kidnapping. Chief Joyce stated that both subjects were charged and that the Crete Police Department awarded Lt. Kozinski with an “Honorable Mention". Police Joyce summarized an incident that took place on Saturday, February 29th when a routine traffic stop apprehended 3 subjects with handguns and 30 round clips off the streets. Chief Joyce announced that Deputy Chief Wehrle has retired and that his last day was February 21, 2020.

NEW BUSINESS:

ORDINANCE 2020-ORD-7: AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING A PURCHASE AND SALE AGREEMENT BY AND BETWEEN THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS AND KIND CRAFT GROW AND TRANSPORTER, LLC (3201 EAST END AVENUE): Mayor Matthews presented the ordinance and summarized that contract and earnest money. Trustee Ross motioned to approve the ordinance, seconded by Trustee Fiorenzo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

ORDINANCE 2020-ORD-8: AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AMENDING SECTION 54-8 OF ARTICLE I OF CHAPTER 54 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS RELATED TO THE TERM OF COMMERCIAL SOLICITATION LICENSES: Mayor Matthews presented the ordinance and explained that this ordinance only reduced the license from twelve month license to six months. Trustee Stanton motioned to approve the ordinance, seconded by Trustee Fiorenzo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

ORDINANCE 2020-ORD-9: AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AMENDING SECTION 18-722 AND 18-729 OF ARTICLE XVIII OF CHAPTER 18 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS RELATED TO TOBACCO PRODUCTS: Mayor Matthews presented the ordinance and stated that the new stated law to purchase tobacco products is 21. Trustee Bosco motioned to approve the ordinance, seconded by Trustee Marrufo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

MAYOR: None.

ADJOURNMENT: With nothing further to discuss, Trustee Stanton motioned to adjourn the Regular Board of Trustee meeting, seconded by Trustee Bosco. On a voice vote, all ayes, no nays; the motion so ordered. Meeting adjourned at 7:15
