Village of South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees met May 4.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

In recognition of the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis, the Village is making every effort to ensure the health, safety and welfare of its residents. To avoid the transmittance of the COVID-19 virus, residents of the Village are invited to attend this meeting telephonically.

Specifically, residents were encouraged to call into the following teleconference line (712) 775 7031 in order to listen to the live meeting. After dialing the teleconference line, they will be prompted to enter the following conference ID: 245-795. After they have entered this conference ID, they would be able to listen to the meeting.

A Regular Board of Trustee meeting was held by teleconference and at the Village Hall 3317 Chicago Road, South Chicago Heights, Illinois. Mayor Terry Matthews called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Matthews stated that residents were encouraged to email their questions and public comments to clinan@southchicagoheights.com prior to and during the meeting. The emails will be read during the public comment portion of the meeting.

APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES: Trustee Bosco motioned to approve the Regular Board of Trustee meeting minutes of April 20, 2020, seconded by Trustee Marrufo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

PUBLIC COMMENT: Clerk Linan stated that no questions were submitted electronically.

APPROVAL OF THE MANUAL CHECK LIST OF APRIL 30, 2020: Trustee Marrufo motioned to approve the manual check list, by Trustee Bosco. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

APPROVAL OF THE BILL LIST OF MAY 4, 2020: Trustee Marrufo motioned to approve the bill list seconded, by Trustee Fiorenzo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

TRUSTEE/COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Fire Chief Vlietstra stated that there was 119 calls for service, 74 EMS, 4 structure fires, 37 fire alarms calls, and 4 citizen assist in the month of April. Chief Vlietstra updated the Village Board on the Covid-19 cases at Bria. Chief Vlietstra summarized the collection progress Fire Recovery. Chief Vlietstra stated that his department was awarded a $4,000 grant through Enbridge.

Police Chief Joyce stated that there were 497 calls for police service in April; 2 arrest, 4 DUI, 22 retail thefts.

NEW BUSINESS:

ORDINANCE 2020-ORD-13: AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF A SURPLUS VEHICLE OWNED BY THE VILLAGE: Mayor Matthews presented the ordinance. Chief Vlietstra explained that the ambulance was too small and that its intended use was for 5 years and that the department had it for 10 ten years. Trustee Stanton motioned to approve the ordinance seconded, by Trustee Fazzini. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

ORDINANCE 2020-ORD-14: AN ORDINANCE OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AMENDING SECTION 6-32 OF ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 6 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS RELATED TO THE SCHEDULE OF FEES FOR LIQUOR LICENSES: Mayor Matthews presented the ordinance. Trustee Ross motioned to approve the ordinance seconded, by

Trustee Bosco. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

RESOLUTION 2020-R-11: A RESOLUTION OF THE VILLAGE OF SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, COOK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING THE EXECUTION OF THE PROPOSAL BETWEEN THE VILLAGE AND AMERICAN RESPONSE VEHICLES FOR THE PURCHASE OF A 2012 AEV TYPE 1 FORD F-550 AMBULANCE: Mayor Matthews presented the resolution. Chief Vlietstra explained that money was in the budget for a vehicle but will use those funds to purchase this used ambulance. Chief Vlietstra stated that one of the next police vehicle to be traded with be passed along to Assistant Fire Chief. Trustee Fazzini motioned to approve the resolution seconded, by Trustee Ross. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being: Ayes: Eugene Fazzini, Terry Fiorenzo, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco & John Ross. Nays: None. Abstain: None. Absent: None. Motion carried 6 to 0.

MAYOR'S REPORT: Mayor Matthews thanked all departments and office staff for all their help distributing masks at the Senior Center on Saturday. Mayor Matthews stated that the masks were not purchased with taxpayers' money. Mayor Matthews wished Clerk Linan a Happy Birthday.

ADJOURNMENT: With nothing further to discuss, Trustee Stanton motioned to adjourn the Regular meeting, seconded by Trustee Fiorenzo. On a voice vote, all ayes, no nays; the motion so ordered. Meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
