Village of Chicago Ridge issued the following announcement on June 23.
The project intends to stabilize Melvina Ditch between 95th and 99th Streets in Oak Lawn and Chicago Ridge. The scope consists of:
1. Construction of 2,500 linear feet of precast concrete modular block retaining wall along the east bank of Melvina Ditch adjacent to the Chicago Ridge Mall.
2. A vegetated slope with raprap toe on the west bank of Melvina Ditch adjacent to Nashville Avenue.
3. 170-feet of twin box concrete culverts south of 95th street.
All construction traffic will enter from 99th street and be separated from mall traffic by temporary construction barriers and fencing. Mall access will not be restricted.
Single lane closures on the right most westbound lane will begin in July/August to pour the concrete culvert.
The project work hours are scheduled from 7AM to 4PM - work is planned to go into the fall of 2021.

Work on Contract 13-248-5F Stream bank Stabilization on Melvina Ditch for the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District is scheduled to begin the week of June 8th. Tree clearing is expected to take 7-10 days.
Once trees have been cleared traffic control and barrier wall with fence setup will begin on the Chicago Ridge Mall Drive. Traffic control and barrier wall fencing will take one week to complete.
The week of June 29th Rausch will begin clearing the concrete rubble at the proposed box culvert location near 95th street. The clearing and excavation for the box culvert is expected to take two weeks to complete.
Ditch dewatering and concrete construction of the box culvert is planned to begin the week of July 6th, construction of the culvert will take approximately 6-10 weeks to complete - depending on water conditions in the ditch. During this time there will be a single lane closure on 95th to allow for dewatering pumps to be staged over the existing 95th street culvert and to allow access for a concrete pump to service the concrete pours for the box culvert. Box culvert construction is expected to conclude in September.
