Analysis: Lansing pays $6.62 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Lansing Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.5 percent of the $1,845,640 the Lansing Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $6.62 for every $1 from pension members, according to a South Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Lansing contributed $1,596,662 to the fund, which saw a $468,659 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $240,825, or 13 percent, in 2018. Another $8,153 came from other unspecified sources.
