Analysis: Blue Island pays $6.49 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Blue Island Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.4 percent of the $2,058,512 the Blue Island Police Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $6.49 for every $1 from pension members, according to a South Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Blue Island contributed $1,778,991 to the fund, which saw a $229,849 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $274,014, or 13.3 percent, in 2018. Another $5,507 came from other unspecified sources.
