Analysis: Blue Island pays $7.04 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Blue Island Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 87.6 percent of the $1,262,036 the Blue Island Firefighters Pension Fund brought in 2018, or $7.04 for every $1 from pension members, according to a South Cook News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Blue Island contributed $1,105,164 to the fund, which saw a $161,242 increase in revenue over 2017. Members contributed $156,872, or 12.4 percent, in 2018.
