VILLAGE OF PARK FOREST: After tornado sweeps through town nearly 600 remain without power, seek tree services

Tornado(1000)

Village of Park Forest issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.

The Park Forest community is continuing clean-up efforts following Monday’s storms that produced an EF-0 tornado with winds in excess of 110 mile per hour and caused extensive damage to trees and power lines.

Following the storm Monday evening, an estimated 5,000 homes in Park Forest were without power. By Wednesday, power had been restored to nearly 2,500 of those homes. As of today, nearly 600 homes remain without power as ComEd continues work in the area.

Public Works crews and village contractors also continue the removal of piles of branches and debris around the community. Two drop-off locations have been designated for residents wishing to drop-off collected debris: Residents may leave debris in an adjacent parking to Park Forest’s Village Hall and in a grassy area located at the corner of Park Street and Westwood Drive near the village’s Public Works yard.

For residents in need of professional tree services, the below list is being provided to assist homeowners in identifying services in the area. Tree service contractors are not required to be licensed in Park Forest. As such, residents should be sure to thoroughly investigate the professionalism and quality of services being considered and, if possible, obtain at least three quotes from competing businesses before selecting one.
