Cost of college went up for all students at Moraine Valley Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 2.2 percent for 2018-19 at Moraine Valley Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Illinois residents paid $9,636 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $210 more than the $9,426 charged for 2017-18.

Non-resident students would have paid 16.2 percent more than residents this year, or $11,196. Non-resident tuition and fees grew 2.2 percent from $10,956 in 2017-18.

About 99 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Illinois residents. And about 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 53 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 717 students received grants or scholarships totaling $3.7 million and 171 students took out student loans totaling more than $731,052.

Including all undergraduates (13,762), 4,736 students used grants or scholarships totaling $20.9 million, and 894 students took out $4.6 million in federal student loans.
