Bloom Township High School District 206 Board of Education met July 27.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Bloom Township High School District 206 Board of Education met in Special session in the boardroom of the Administration Center and via electronic attendance in accordance with the Executive Order No. 7 (the “Order No. 7”) signed by Governor Pritzker on March 16th, 2020. Mr. Drake called the meeting order at 2:00 p.m. The pledge of allegiance was recited.

Roll Call

All Board members were present physically or electronically.

Administrators present were Dr. Navarre, Mr. Okrasinski, Mr. Schmitt, and Mr. Amadio. Also present via telephone was Mr. Wong (school board attorney).

New Business – Action Items

A. PRESS Issue 103 Update

Mr. Rossi moved and Ms. Palombi seconded confirming the final approval of District Policy Manual Revisions.

B. Agreement—Go Guardian

Mr. Rossi moved and Ms. Palombi seconded approving the GoGuardian Subscription Suite in the amount of $25,620.00. Dr. Navarre asked Mr. Schmitt to explain GoGuardian benefits to the Board of Education including internet filtering, classroom observation in and out of the school building, and other remote learning benefits.

Public Participation

Dr. Navarre asked Mr. Okrasinski to read the emails received for public participation. Mr. Kevin Huizenga stated in his email that he would like to teach his classes in person, but he has concerns for his health and the health of the people around him. Mr. Timothy Jacko also sent an email expressing his concerns and asked if the school were to open for in-person instruction and learning, when would the staff receive a written detailed plan of action addressing safety precautions and procedures. In response to Mr. Jacko’s question, Dr. Navarre informed the board that the district has outlined detailed plans in the Transition Plan including increased cleaning and sanitizing schedules, the use of disinfectants approved for schools along with other implementations to combat COVID including symptom screening and temperature checks as recommended by ISBE and IDPH.

ISBE, IDPH, and the CDC guidance changes consistently and as the guidance continues to shift, Dr. Navarre informed the board that we will be sure to update the plan to reflect the latest changes. The District also received a statement from Ms. Cagney, but it was delivered after the deadline.

Adjournment

Mr. Rossi moved and Ms. Palombi seconded that the meeting be adjourned. Upon roll call, all Board members voted “Aye.” Motion carried 7-0. There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, Mr. Drake declared the meeting adjourned at 2:07 p.m.
