Crestwood FD responds to 102 fires in 2018

Crestwood Fire District responded to 461 calls in 2018 - 3.8 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Crestwood included 102 fires - 69 structure fires, 16 vehicle fires and 17 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $229,600 in fire loss - or about $2,251 per fire.

The department also received 357 false calls, including eight malicious calls and 349 other false calls.

The Crestwood Firefighters' Pension Fund, which has one active employee and retired or inactive employee, was $0 positive as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $0 for every fire in 2017.
