Burbank FD responds to 84 fires in 2018

Burbank Fire District responded to 498 calls in 2018 - 6.6 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Burbank included 84 fires - 52 structure fires, seven vehicle fires and 25 other fires. The fire department also responded to five calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $202,300 in fire loss - or about $2,408 per fire.

The department also received 409 false calls, including six malicious calls and 403 other false calls.

One fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.

The Burbank Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 28 active employees and 29 retired or inactive employees, was $1,255,338 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $13,498 for every fire in 2017.
