Bridgeview FD responds to 110 fires in 2018

Bridgeview Fire Department responded to 514 calls in 2018 - 5.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Bridgeview included 110 fires - 78 structure fires, 14 vehicle fires and 18 other fires. The fire department also responded to two calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.

In all, the department saw $782,253 in fire loss - or about $7,111 per fire.

The department also received 402 false calls, including 16 malicious calls and 386 other false calls.

The Bridgeview Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 27 active employees and 45 retired or inactive employees, was $68,537 positive as of December 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $692 for every fire in 2017.
