Glenwood Fire District responded to 193 calls in 2018 - 23.7 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Glenwood included 58 fires - 36 structure fires, 13 vehicle fires and nine other fires.

In all, the department saw $318,695 in fire loss - or about $5,495 per fire.

The department also received 135 false calls, including two malicious calls and 133 other false calls.

The Glenwood Firefighters Pension Fund, which has three active employees and five retired or inactive employees, was $143,845 in debt as of April 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $2,115 for every fire in 2017.
