Illinois' 6th Congressional District issued the following announcement on Oct. 6.
U.S. Representative Sean Casten (IL-06) hosted an event to commemorate, honor and thank Vietnam era veterans with official certificates and pins at the Lake Barrington Shores Memorial Garden. The event was part of the Department of Defense’s (DOD) Vietnam War 50th Anniversary Commemoration program, with which Congressman Casten is a proud partner.
Casten said, “In this challenging moment, we cannot forget the enormous debt of gratitude we owe our veterans. Vietnam War veterans answered their nation’s call and served with courage, conviction, and a sense of duty. Our veterans and their families have made incredible sacrifices, and for that we cannot thank them enough. In the face of these uncertain times, I’m glad we can still come together as a community to celebrate our Vietnam veterans.”
