The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Blue Island Held Remotely at 7:03 p.m. by Mayor Vargas as permitted by Executive Order 2020-07 signed by Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker on March 16, 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

PUBLIC COMMENT:
Carol Dipace Greene announced that Together #BlueIslandStrong will distribute Face Masks, Gloves Hand Sanitizer and Food at Eisenhower High School, Saturday, October 17, 2020, 10:30am - 12:30pm “while supplies last.” For the last six months; since May 2020, Together #BlueIslandStrong has distributed and delivered to anyone & everyone; and “We continue to support our neighbors No; Questions Asked." Special Thank You to Our Numerous Donors and Volunteers. Everyone remains Welcome to pick-up, donate, volunteer, participate and share. MAYOR:
The City Council readdressed whether we should allow trick-or-treat hours in the City of Blue Island. After much discussion it was decided that the City would not have Trick-or-Treat Hours
Motion by Ald. Mech, seconded by Ald. Fahrenwald to not have Trick or Treat Hours in the City of Blue Island.
Ayes: 8 Hawley, Fahrenwald, Hill, Mech, Klinker, Stevo, Johnson, Vargas
Nays: 1 Bilotto

Motion by Ald. Johnson, seconded by Ald. Mech for the Appointment of Ronald Bloom to the Zoning Board to replace Clifford Griffin. Appointment will expire on 4/30/23.

Mayor Vargas reminded everyone about the giveaway this Saturday at Eisenhower High School and reminded all to follow CDC guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic
There has been an increase in vandalism throughout the City, Mayor asked that if you See something, say something to help curb this activity.
Mayor Vargas thanked the volunteers who are helping Cleanup efforts throughout the City.
The Western Avenue Bridge project is moving along and the Cal-Sag trail will be up and running soon after some punch list items are complete.
Shop Small is usually in November but the Mayor asked that we start now to help our small businesses.
Fall is upon us and Public Works asks that you bag your leaves so that they don't end up in the streets and or clog our sewers.

ALDERMANIC ANNOUNCEMENTS/COMMENTS
Alderman Fahrenwald explained his no vote on Health Insurance and asked that all Aldermen be able to participate in Committee meetings.
Alderman Zylman asked if we have security cameras in the East Annex Council Chambers and City Clerk's office.
Alderman Johnson asked about fire sprinkler meters and what the minimum charge is. Clerk Heuser informed the Council that the typical minimum charge is 12 of the Domestic Water meter minimum.
