Village of South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees Met November 16

Village of South Chicago Heights Board of Trustees met Nov. 16.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Regular meeting was held at the Village Hall, 3317 Chicago Road, South Chicago Heights, Illinois. Mayor Matthews called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the Pledge of Allegiance followed. Mayor Matthews requested Clerk Linan to call roll. The following were present:

Trustee Eugene Fazzini was absent. 

APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES: Trustee Marrufo motioned to approve the Regular Board of Trustee meeting minutes of November 16, 2020, seconded by Trustee Bosco. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:

Ayes: Terry Fiorenza, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross.

Nays: None.

Abstain: None.

Absent: Trustee Fazzini.

Motion carried 5 to 0.

PUBLIC COMMENT: None

APPROVAL OF THE BILL LIST OF NOVEMBER 16, 2020: Trustee Bosco motioned to approve the bill list of November 16, 2020, seconded by Trustee Marrufo. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:

Ayes: Terry Fiorenza, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross.

Nays: None.

Abstain: None.

Absent: Trustee Fazzini.

Motion carried 5 to 0.

TRUSTEE/COMMITTEE REPORTS:

Fire Chief Vlietstra stated that the fire engine was out of service and that it was a computer board and that his department was using one of Steger's engine until our engine is repaired.

Police Chief Joyce summarized a funeral procession of a Vietnam Veteran that was coming through town on Wednesday, November 18th and that this veteran was the uncle of officer Jackie Agee.

OLD BUSINESS: None

NEW BUSINESS:

APPROVAL - ALICIA'S HOUSE FOOD PANTRY DONATION: Mayor Matthews stated that the Village has donated to Alicia's House every year and he recommended that the Board approve $1,500.00. Trustee Ross motioned to approve a $1,500.00 donation to Alicia's House Food Pantry, seconded by Trustee Fiorenza. There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:

Ayes: Terry Fiorenza, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross.

Nays: None.

Abstain: None.

Absent: Trustee Fazzini.

Motion carried 5 to 0.

APPROVAL - PROPOSAL FROM DESIDERIO FOR VETERANS MEMORIAL MOUND: Mayor Matthews presented the proposal and explained that the old rock color does not match the new retaining wall and that more is needed around the mound as well. Trustee Stanton motioned to approve the proposal from Desiderio Landscaping for $4,760.00, seconded by Trustee Fiorenza.

There being no further discussion, the roll call vote being:

Ayes: Terry Fiorenza, Eric Stanton, Sally Marrufo, Tracy Bosco, & John Ross.

Nays: None.

Abstain: None.

Absent: Trustee Fazzini.

Motion carried 5 to 0.

BUSINESS LICENSES: Derrick Marshall of Kickbacks Barber Shop LLC located at 3330 Chicago Road explained his business. Mayor Matthews asked where their previous locations were and what their hours would be. Mr. Marshall stated that he would have eight to ten chairs. Discussion ensued regarding adequate parking for this location. Mayor Matthews stated that once the Building and Fire Department inspected the building, a license could be issued. Jerome Edmond of Harold's Great Chicken located at 3231 Chicago Road explained his business. Discussion ensued amongst the Board regarding the hours of operation, how many employees and other locations. Mayor Matthews stated that once the Building and Fire Departments inspected and approved the building a license could be issued.

MAYOR'S REPORT: Mayor Matthews reminded everyone of the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 20th at 6:00 p.m. and hope everyone can come. Mayor Matthews stated that we would not have anything except to light the tree and have everyone remain in their cars.

ADJOURNMENT:

With nothing further to discuss, Trustee Stanton motioned to adjourn the Regular meeting, seconded by Trustee Bosco. On a voice vote, all ayes, no nays; the motion so ordered. Meeting adjourned at 7:25 p.m. ·
