Village of Worth Board of Trustees Met Oct. 20.

CALL TO ORDER

The regular meeting of the Village of Worth Village Board was called to order by Village President Werner at 7:01 p.m.

ROLL CALL

Present and responding to roll call were the following:

Village President Mary Werner

Village Trustees: Kevin Ryan

Brad Urban

Rich Dziedzic

Laura Packwood

Pete Kats

Also Present:

Village Attorney Greg Jones

Chief of Police Tim Denton

Building Commissioner Bruce Zartler

Public Works Superintendent Wayne Demonbreun

Village Engineer Mike Spolar

There being a quorum present, the meeting was called to order. 

REPORTS OF VILLAGE OFFICIALS

VILLAGE PRESIDENT

President Werner had several announcements:

Marrs Meyer American Legion Women’s Auxiliary will be having a turkey dinner carry out only $15.00 per person curbside pick-up on November 14 from 1-6 p.m.

Worth Park District haunted house was cancelled due to the Governor cancelling all inside haunted houses. Worth Park District will have a haunted trail outside on October 25 & 26 from 7-9 p.m. the cost is $5.00.

VILLAGE CLERK

In the absence of Clerk Price, President Werner announced early voting started for Suburban Cook County yesterday.

Worth Lions Club will be having a Ton of Food Drive on November 21. The Lions Club members will be using their family members to collect the food and if any of the council members want to volunteer. Trustee Urban stated that we will not be knocking on doors, and we do have a drop off box here at the Village Hall and the American Legion Hall.

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Trustee Ryan, stated that on the consent agenda is to approve the bill list dated October 20 in the amount of $174,640.19. Without any objection this will remain on the consent agenda.

PUBLIC SAFETY

Trustee Kats Police report for the month of September they logged 14,887 miles for the month, 1,653 police events and had 45 criminal arrests. Trustee Kats stated that his has been another very busy month for them. President Werner asked Chief Denton if we could have a police officer on Friday night go to pack night for Cub Scouts at St Mark’s Church parking lot and could judge the halloween costume contest at 6 p.m.

PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE/BEAUTIFICATION COMMITTEE

Trustee Urban stated that we followed up on the garbage behind the daycare center, they did remove the dumpster and cleaned up the area.

BUILDING/LICENSING/ORDINANCES

Trustee Dziedzic stated on the consent agenda is to adopt Ordinance 2020-38 An Ordinance Approving an Intergovernmental Agreement between the Village of Worth and Cook County for the Provision of Environmental Health Inspectional Services. This is for Cook County Health does inspections at businesses. Without objection this will remain on the consent agenda.

Commissioner Zartler submitted the September Building Department report. In September the building department collected $11,225.00 in permits, issued 61 permits and collected $2,300 in administrative fees.

Trustee Dziedzic announced the Worth Car Cruisers trunk or treat on October 26 from 4-7:30 p.m. at Water’s Edge Golf Course parking lot.

President Werner announced that he project on Southwest Highway at the old car wash. They are going to meet with Commissioner Zartler and break ground this year. They are building a restaurant.

BUSINESS LICENSES 

No report.

GOLF COURSE

Trustee Packwood submitted the September Revenue & Expense report. The revenues for September were $149,798.17 and the expenses were 147,780.78. The surplus for September is $130,825.14. The Fiscal year to date figures: Revenues $1,364,766.04 and the expenses $755,778.89 and the surplus is $608,987.15. October is doing well and at the close of the season we will have cash on hand to get us through the winter for the second year in a row.

MOTION TO ESTABLISH THE CONSENT AGENDA

Motion was made by Trustee Packwood seconded by Trustee Dziedzic to establish the consent agenda. A roll call followed. Ayes: Trustee Ryan, Packwood, Kats, Urban, and Dziedzic (5). Nays: (0). Absent: Muersch Jr. (1). Abstain: (0). Motion carried.

Motion was made by Trustee Urban seconded by Trustee Ryan to adopt the consent agenda. A roll call followed. Ayes: Trustee Ryan, Packwood, Kats, Urban, and Dziedzic (5). Nays: (0). Absent: Muersch Jr. (1). Abstain: (0). Motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT

Trustee Kats moved seconded by Trustee Dziedzic to adjourn the regular meeting at 7:17 p.m. A voice vote followed. Motion carried.
