Q3 2020 Recap: 188 parolees from Cook County convicted of crimes against persons set for release

There were 188 offenders convicted of crimes against persons released on parole in Cook County during the third quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the South Cook News.

The data shows that 171 men and 17 women were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for crimes against persons, two were veterans, and the median age was 34. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced in 2019, and the oldest was a 63-year-old man sentenced in 2019.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Darryl Williams. He was convicted in 2006 when he was 25 years old. He is now 39.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
