Village of Park Forest issued the following announcement on Apr. 21.
The Housing Authority of Park Forest (HAPF) has implemented a new Landlord Incentive Program beginning May 1, 2021.
The HAPF will offer a one-time $500 signing bonus for units leased to new and current Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) participants. The program runs until Dec. 1, 2021 or until all funds have been used.
The Landlord Incentive Program, made available through funds provided by HUD, is designed to expand available housing resources for residents in need of safe and affordable homes during this COVID-19 pandemic. The initiative aims to encourage and motivate property owners to participate in the HCV Program.
Participation in the HCV program is mutually beneficial. Voucher participants benefit by finding affordable housing in the Village of Park Forest, and landlords benefit by receiving guaranteed monthly Housing Assistance Payments (HAP). Landlords can lease up to three qualifying units. To qualify the landlord must have leased the unit to a new HCV participant on or after May 1, 2021. All new lease-ups must be completed between May 1, 2021 and Dec. 1, 2021.
