issued the following announcement on June 21

First of all, thanks to the National Association of University Women (Windy City Branch) for partnering with the Illinois Adopt-A-Highway program on 87th Street from Kedzie Avenue to Western Avenue.  Branch president Tina Brady Pettis and her team were out over the weekend picking up trash and they’ll be back in the fall. We appreciate the help in keeping EP clean!

I hope that you are all safe from the sudden storms last night; our friends in the western suburbs weren’t quite as lucky. Thankfully, Evergreen Park was largely unaffected; however, please let us know if you need some help cleaning up. Our Street Division will be out this week picking up branches, so just put them out on your parkway, and they will come by to take them away.

Also; while we are thankful that the Covid numbers are dropping and that the state has moved into Phase 5, we still ask that those who have not been vaccinated please take special care when out in public areas and to consider getting vaccinated at one of the many local pharmacies offering the vaccine.

We are moving on with summer programs. Break out the red, white and blue and decorate your homes for Fourth of July, and enter our Independence Day Home Decorating Contest.  You can get all the details on our website; why not submit a photo and take a chance to win an Evergreen Park gift card?

The Village is always looking to honor our servicemen and women. To that end, we are redesigning our Hometown Heroes display board in the Village Hall.  If you have a Hometown Hero currently serving in the military, please send us a photo to epinf@hotmail.com, along with his/her name and rank. Or, drop off a picture in our special dropoff box that will be in the Village Hall beginning Wednesday, June 23. The photos that are currently displayed will be moved to a special scrapbook at the Village Hall.

Our free summer concerts continue at Circle Park on Sundays July 25 and August 22.  I am happy to announce that there will be a Fireworks Show in Evergreen Park. Come to
50-Acre Park on Labor Day (Monday, September 6) to hear the music of the City Lights Orchestra, followed by a terrific fireworks display.

I am very grateful for the opportunity to serve you; please consider stopping by the Farmers Market on Thursdays at Yukich Field. I am there from 9am-10am to meet and
And on Thursday, July 1. . .bring your yoga mat and join me for a FREE “Yoga at the Farmers Market” at 7am.

Please remember that our staff at the Village Hall is there to help you and answer any questions you may have. Don’t rely on social media rumors for information; there is a whole building at 94th and Kedzie that is staffed with people who are there to help guide the way.

On that note, I offer best wishes to Evergreen Park staffers Judy Phelan, Chris McCann and Beverly Nolan, who are retiring at the end of this month; and, as you know, Nicki Seidl is retiring after a stunning twenty-year run as Library Director. All of these folks deserve a very long and happy, healthy retirement and, again, I wish them the best.
