U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) recently made her first trip to Illinois, where she headlined a fundraiser for fellow GOP Rep. Mary Miller as the headlined speaker.

Greene told an Effingham crowd she and Miller are “unpopular girls,” largely because they aren’t willing to go along just to get along.

Not long after being sworn in, Greene was stripped of her committee posts and just last month received a rare rebuke from her own party after she essentially equated mask mandates and the Holocaust, PBS reported.

Miller can relate to it all after being forced to apologize for citing Adolf Hitler in a speech in Washington. More recently, her husband, state Rep. Chris Miller, came under fire for displaying a right-wing extremist logo on his truck when it was parked outside the Capital on the same day as the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Speaking before a crowd of roughly 400, Greene was warmly welcomed, at one point imploring the crowd, “Donate directly to the people who are doing the job that you’re proud of, like your great congresswoman, Mary Miller.”

During her nearly hour long speech, Greene added there’s a reason why she was campaigning in Miller’s district before any of her other colleagues.

“I have not gone to anyone’s district and supported anybody yet, but I went to your congresswoman’s district first and supported your congresswoman because I’m thankful for her,” she said. “She needs your help. We aren’t the popular girls in Washington. They call us insurrectionists. We are patriots.”

With her 15th Congressional District being among the most conservative in Illinois, Miller seemed to have few reservations about bringing Greene to town, a move that was instantly met with widespread criticism by Democrats.

“Mary Miller and Marjorie Taylor Green are two peas in a pod blindly following their dear failed leader Donald Trump,” Illinois Democratic County Chairs’ Association (IDCCA) said in a statement. "The Miller and Green show are now fundraising together in Illinois, continuing their grift and conspiracy theory partnership.”

Besides asserting that she is certain Trump won her state even though it was officially recorded as a loss, Greene also took time to thank Miller for joining her in supporting a measure she said, if the COVID-19 vaccine were required, would “let you sue them for discrimination.”

“I’m so thankful for her, and I love having Mary Miller as a friend,” she added.
