City of Hometown City Council met June 22.

Call to Order:
The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hometown was called to order by Mayor Kevin Casey at 7:00 P.M.
Pledge of Allegiance:
The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Alderman Zak.
Mayor Casey asked for a moment of silence for former Alderman, Ron Masino, Ward Two, who was laid to rest this morning.
Roll Call:
Roll call indicated that the following were present: Aldermen Smith, Zak, Grochowski, Banasiak, Finnegan, Kurysz, Beyer, Barnhouse, Walsh and Reynolds.

Moved by Alderman Grochowski seconded by Alderman Kurysz to approve as published June the Journal of June 8, 2021 regular City Council Meeting.

CITIZEN’S HEARING
Phil Mottl asked when the flags would be raised again, honoring life instead of death. Mayor Casey stated the plan is to raise the flags again, they were kept down in memory of former Alderman Masino. The flags will be raised but we keep getting orders from the President and Governor to lower them. REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS

Police: Louis Dominguez, Chief was not present.
Public Works: Mark Trlak, Director was not present.
Building: James Forbes, Commissioner reported he received the plans for the parking lot project behind the school. They are adding thirty additional parking spaces and eliminating the ball field, the playground will stay. They will be putting in a French Drain instead of a retention pond. Mayor Casey stated we removed the concession stand and the district is doing the rest.
Public Health & Safety: Director Bonnie Gesiakowski had no report

FINANCE COMMITTEE
Accounts Payable and Payroll June 22, 2021
Moved by Chairman, Christopher Beyer, seconded by Alderman Banasiak to approve for payment the accounts payable vouchers in the amount of $48,671.07 and payroll vouchers in the amount of $69,039.77 for a total expenditure of $117,710.84.

STREETS, SIDEWALKS AND MUNICIPAL BUILDING COMMITTEE:
Alderman Glen Zak, Chairman, had no report.
WATER AND SEWER COMMITTEE:
Alderman Daniel Walsh, Chairman reported per the City of Hometown Ordinance No. 3-1989 provides for passing the Chicago water and sewer increase onto the residents of Hometown. The City of Chicago increased the water rate as of June 1, 2021. The current water charge per 665 cubic feet is $35.94, with the City of Chicago increase of 1.10% it will bring the new charge for 665 cubic feet to $36.34. So, the minimum bill for water and sewer will now be $60.72 per month. You will see this increase on the July bill, due in August which is for June usage.
PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE
Alderman Robert Smith, Chairman had no report.
BUILDING COMMITTEE
Alderman Brian Barnhouse, Chairman had no report.
LICENSE COMMITTEE:
Alderman Donna Grochowski, Chairman reminded residents that Vehicle Sticker price and animal tag price doubles after June 30th.
CODE AND ORDINANCE COMMITTEE
Alderman Robert Reynolds, Chairman had no report.
INSURANCE COMMITTEE:
Alderman Rick Banasiak, Chairman had no report
PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE
Alderman Luci Kurysz, Chairman remarked how nice it is to see less masks.
POLICE COMMITTEE
Alderman Frank Finnegan, Chairman had no report.
REPORTS FROM SPECIAL COMMITTEES
Library:
Alderman Grochowski, Liaison reminded everyone the library is hosting a Summer Reading Program until July 31, 2021.
Legislation:
Alderman Christopher Beyer had no report.
Fire Department:
Alderman Rick Banasiak, Liaison reported the meeting was cancelled but he spoke with Trustee Nevels. Trustee Nevels reported the calls are up and they are maintaining with the three-man crew. They are anticipating tax revenue in August and have held off some bills until then. The Chief was at Midway Airport for special training. The Ice damage to the Fire House has been repaired.

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS, RESOLUTIONS, ORDERS AND ORDINANCES BY ALDERMEN
SPECIAL EVENTS:
Alderman Grochowski reported plans are being talked about for 9-11, this year is the 20th Anniversary. Jewel/Osco will be holding a Flu/pneumonia shot clinic at Patterson Park on September 25, 2021 from 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m.
HEALTH, WELFARE & COMMUNITY EVENTS:
Alderman Grochowski reported on several upcoming events. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: NONE
NEW BUSINESS:
Mayor Casey stated the Car Wash is moving forward.
CITIZEN’S HEARING:
Phil Mottl asked about the lease Hometown had with District 123 for the Unity Park. Mayor Casey stated we no longer use the baseball field and no longer maintain the field, so that was the end of the lease. Hometown residents are still able to use the park so that will not change. Mayor Casey stated with the Fourth of July upon us, the police Department is already making plans for enforcement, you will see the officers on their bikes and the department will do their best as always.
