Village of East Hazel Crest President and Board of Trustees Met May 12.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

Officials: Mayor Thomas A. Brown, Administrator Lazuka and Clerk Minnis Roll Call: Trustees Forte, Kearns, Johnson, Ewan, Smith & Ortiz present. Also present: Deputy Fire Chief Mills, PW Supt. King and Judge Moninque C. Ross

Guests Joan Hale, H. Kearns, M. Perez, John White, F. Rodriguez, Monica Elsey, Ron Wideman, Jr. and numerous members of his family.

Invocation & Pledge. Silent invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

I Minutes: Trustees Smith and Ortiz made the motions to approve the minutes of the 5/24/21 regular meeting. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried.

Reports of Village Officials:

Mayor's Report:

1) The No. Shore Clinical Labs have requested approval to operate a Covid testing site at 17499 Dixie Hwy. Trustees Ortiz and Smith made the motions to approve the request. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried.

Clerk: Official notification of the 4/6/21 Consolidated Election was received on 4/30/21. 221 persons voted in the 4/6/21 election.

Administrator's Report:

1) Administrator Lazuka reported receiving three (3) bids for the replacement of the gutter on the 1904 Bldg. damaged by ice:

- Sealtight Exteriors        $4,400.00

-Korellis                        $17,700.00

-Kraz Construction      $   5,475.00

Trustees Kearns and Ortiz made the motions to approve the $4,400.00 bid of Seal tight Exteriors. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye.

Motions carried.

2) Administrator Lazuka reported receiving three (3) bids for the replacement of the RPZ Valve on the fire protection system at the Village Hall:

-Water Services Co.       $4,221.00

-Calumet City Plbg         $5,880.00

-Unique Plbg. Co            $7,780,00

Trustees Kearns and Ortiz made the motions to accept the $4,221.00 bid of Water Serices Co. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye,

Motions carried.

OPEN TO VISITORS: Trustees Ortiz and Smith made the motions to open this segment of the meeting to visitors. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7: 10 pm

A guest complimented Trustee Forte on participation in various women's group activities.

CLOSE TO VISITORS: There being no other input, Trustees Ortiz and Smith made the motions to close this segment of the meeting to the Public. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7: 11 pm

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Streets: Tr. Forte thanked the residents for their attendance to the meeting.

Finance/License:

1) Trustees Keams and Keams and Johnson made the motions to approve all bills on the Claims Sheets dated 5/ 12/21 in the amount of $58,201.01. Roll Call: all trustees voted aye.

Motions carried.

SIGNS: Tr. Johnson had nothing to report.

HEALTH/SAFETY/PERSONNEL; No report b Tr. Ewan.

WATER/SEWERS; No report by Tr. Smith. Dan said: Good Bye to the Village Board of Trustees and extended 'thank you' to Mayor Brown for his leadership, Clerk Minnis and to all for allowing him to serve for the past 17 years.

POLICE/FIRE: Tr. Ortiz.read the April, 2021 report of Fire Dept. activities. He then read the April, 2021 report of Police Dept. activities. These reports will be on file in the Clerk's Office.

OLD BUSINESS: Trustee Ewan brought a resident's complaint about their driveway was creating possible hazard after rain.

Trustee Keams questioned PW Supt. King about the trees planted between the tollroad and 172nd St. A brief discussion. Trustees questioned the late timing of notification of the tree planting.

NEW BUSINESS: Judge Dominique C. Ross stepped forward to administer the Oath of Office to the officials elected at the 4/6/21 Consolidated Election:
