City of Hickory Hills City Council Met Aug. 26.

CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the Hickory Hills City Council was called to order by Mayor Mike Howley at 7:31 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers.

OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
Alderman Stachnik moved to open the meeting to the public. Alderman Zimmerman second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
Mrs. Rose Walsh
8610 W. 92nd Street
Mrs. Walsh voiced her concern regarding the property located at 8620 W. 92nd Street. She noted it’s been in disrepair for a very long time and it’s an eye sore. There are two large holes in the front yard. She would like to know when this work will be completed. Mayor Howley noted he is very upset with the condition of this property and will turn the matter over to the City Attorney. Alderman Ferrero also noted she is quite upset and has received many resident complaints. Alderman Ferrero also mentioned the house located on 91st Street and one on 85th Court all are in need of repairs.

Alderman Waight moved to close the meeting to the public. Alderman Ferrero second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS
Alderman Waight moved to approve the minutes of the regularly scheduled meeting of August 12, 2021 as printed subject to deletions or corrections. Alderman Fonte second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
REPORTS OF CITY OFFICIALS
MAYOR
Mayor Howley read a proclamation announcing the week of Sept 13th as Constitution Week.
Mayor Howley mentioned the blue ribbons along 95th Street were put up by a Palos resident to honor the fallen Chicago Police Officer.
Mayor Howley reported he attended the grand opening of Hickory Hills Nutrition on Saturday and wished them well.
CITY CLERK
Clerk Catizone reported the Illinois Department of Public Health and the State of Illinois sponsored a COVID vaccine clinic on Friday, August 20th at City Hall. She noted not all 50 vaccines were administered.
Clerk Catizone announced the Hickory Hills Blood Drive will be held on Sunday, August 29th at the Community Center.
Clerk Catizone thanked the Public Works Department and Building Commissioner Moirano for all their help with the flood in the Clerk’s Office.
CITY TREASURER
Treasurer Vodicka reported he will have the Treasurer’s Report at the next meeting.

COMMUNICATIONS
BILLS PAYABLE
Alderman Kman moved to approve the bills payable for the second half of August 2021 in the amount of $292,648.87. Alderman Waight second. Roll call: Aldermen Ferrero, Fonte, Kman, McHugh, Stachnik, Waight, Zimmerman aye. So approved.
STANDING COMMITTEES
Kman/Finance
Alderman Kman met with the Insurance Committee and they presented three (3) three employee health insurance options. More information on this renewal at the September 9th Council meeting.
Alderman Kman announced he will become a grandparent in March as his son and daughter in law are having their first baby.
Stachnik/Public Safety

Zimmerman/Public Works
Public Works Director Lehr reported Public Works has reviewed the jetter truck choices and found the Vactor Ramjet to best fit the City’s needs. This 2022 International Chasis will replace our 1998 jetter that has 30,000 miles and 5700 hours on the engine. The tank has several pin hole leaks that are increasing. This is a joint purchasing bid from Sourcewell Contracts. A quote from Standard Equipment with trade in of existing is $265,000.00. This is a budgeted item and Public Works will purchase if no concerns. No objections were noted.
Ms. Lehr noted the pavement plans on Roberts Road were halted when inspectors found some blistering in areas of binder on the outer lanes. Cook County is working on a plan to address this issue. Essentially some of the existing layer will be ground out and replaced prior to the finish surface layer being placed. No schedule has been given.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Alderman McHugh reported he has been speaking with Rainbow International on a proposed program. He will ask them to present this to the Council at an upcoming meeting.
Alderman McHugh noted he is in receipt of a request from Kowal’s to hold a car show. No objections were noted.
Alderman McHugh also noted he is in receipt of a request from the Road House to hold their annual Rib Fest on September 4th. No objections were noted.
