The sun hasn’t even climbed above the horizon each morning when Oak Lawn Community High School’s senior Rylee Gallagher hits the pool for diving practice. And as the sun sets in the west that same day, Gallagher returns to the pool to perfect her stroke for her swimming events. She simply does it all for the Spartan girls swim team.
This hard work and determination drive her to reach for perfection. Gallagher’s consistency places her as one of the top divers in the area with a first-place finish at the Argo Dive Invitational and a second-place finish at the Evergreen Park Invitational. She has also finished first in all but one swim meet so far this year. However, this all-around performer is not resting on past accomplishments. She is aiming for even bigger things.
“Rylee puts in double duty for the swim team as she comes in before school to practice diving and after school for swimming,” said head coach Derek Maciaga. “Rylee provides senior leadership and a humble attitude to the varsity squad. Rylee has her sights set on medaling in the upcoming South Suburban Conference meet at the end of October.”
