City of Hometown City Council met Aug. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the council:

Call to Order: The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Hometown was called to order by Mayor Casey at 7:00 P.M.

Pledge of Allegiance: The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the Alderman Smith.

Roll Call: Roll call indicated that the following were present: Aldermen Kurysz, Reynolds, Banasiak, Grochowski, Smith, Beyer, Walsh and Zak.

Absent: Aldermen Finnegan and Barnhouse.

Also present: Michael Cainkar, City Attorney, Louis Dominguez, Chief of Police, Bonnie Gesiakowski, Director of Public Health and Safety, Mark Trlak, Director of Public Works and James Forbes, Building Commissioner.

Press: Kelly White, Hometown Hi-Lites.

Journal July 27, 2021: Moved by Alderman Kurysz, seconded by Alderman Zak to approve as published the Journal of July 27, 2021 Regular City Council Meeting.

Roll Call Indicated:

AYES: (7) Aldermen Zak, Reynolds, Grochowski, Banasiak, Walsh, Beyer and Kurysz

ABSENT: (2) Aldermen Finnegan and Barnhouse

ABSTENSION: (1) Alderman Smith

REPORTS AND COMMUNICATIONS

Office of the Mayor:

Mayor Casey stated he would have things to add throughout the meeting.

Office of the City Clerk:

Clerk Hacker stated her office received a thank you card addressed to the Mayor, City Clerk, City Treasurer and City Council from the family of former Alderman Ron Masino for the flowers we sent at the time of his passing.

Clerk Hacker directed everyone to the Clerk Collectors report to notice we sold over eight thousand dollars on vehicle stickers this past month.

Clerk Hacker reported that her office received notification from the Department of Revenue that the Sales Tax collected in the month of March 2021 was in the amount of $18,205.46 the amount collected in the month of March 2020 was in the amount of $15,072.67.

Clerk Hacker reported that her office received notification from the Department of Transportation that the MFT collected in the month of March 2021 was in the amount of $14,598.17 the amount collected in the month of March 2020 was in the amount of $ 10,507.56.

Office of the Treasurer:

Treasurer Roti stated everyone should have the reports generated from his office, everything is going well, Video Gaming is coming in good. Clerk Hacker directed everyone to the Clerk report which showed the Video Gaming revenue much more than the Sales Tax Revenue.

REPORTS FROM CITY APPOINTED OFFICIAL

City Attorney: Michael Cainkar, City Attorney had no report.

Police: Louis Dominguez, Chief of Police had no report.

Public Works: Mark Trlak, Director reported they are doing routine work.

Building: James Forbes, Building Commissioner had reported we received the Blueprints for Go Puff.

Public Health and Safety: Bonnie Gesiakowski had no report.

REPORTS FROM STANDING COMMITTEES

FINANCE COMMITTEE

Accounts Payable Payroll August 10, 2021: Moved by Alderman Beyer, seconded by Alderman Banasiak to approve for payment the accounts payable vouchers in the amount of $32,220.15 and payroll vouchers in the amount of $87,725.78 for a total expenditure of $119,945.93.

Alderman Glen Zak, Chairman had no report.

WATER AND SEWER COMMITTEE

Alderman Walsh, Chairman had no report.

PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE

Alderman Smith, Chairman had no report.

BUILDING COMMITTEE

Alderman Barnhouse, Chairman was absent, Alderman Walsh gave the Building Report.

LICENSE COMMITTEE: Alderman Donna Grochowski, Chairman had no report.

CODE AND ORDINANCE COMMITTEE: Alderman Bob Reynolds, Chairman had no report.

INSURANCE COMMITTEE:Alderman Rick Banasiak, Chairman had no report.

PUBLIC HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE: Alderman Luci Kurysz, Chairman had no report.

POLICE COMMITTEE: Alderman Finnegan, Chairman was absent. Alderman Banasiak gave the activity for July.

REPORTS FROM SPECIAL COMMITTEES

Library: Alderman Grochowski had no report.

Legislation: Alderman Beyer had no report.

Fire Department: Alderman Rick Banasiak reported they met last night where an additional attorney was introduced to cover when Attorney Miller is not available. The Trustees need to approve funds for an overdue Audit. The July call report showed EMS Calls:462 Fire Calls:407 Assists:74 HT Calls:316.

Personnel Review: Mayor Kevin Casey, Chairman had no report. Chief Dominguez had no report.

PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS, COMMUNICATIONS RESOLUTIONS, ORDERS AND ORDINANCES BY ALDERMEN

Special Events: Alderman Grochowski reported Mayors Office of Special Events will be having a 9-11 memorial ceremony again this year for the 20th anniversary at the Mayors Park beginning at 1:00 p.m. on September 11, September 12th will be the rain date.

Health, Welfare & Community Awareness: Alderman Grochowski reported Jewel Osco will be giving Flu/Pneumonia shots on September 25, 2021 at Patterson Park; they will notify us if they have the covid shot available. The free shredding event at City Hall August 27, 2021 and the Police Department will be holding a Blood Drive August 28, 2021 from 8:00 am to Noon in the City Hall Parking Lot.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: NONE

NEW BUSINESS Go Puff has been pulling permits. Mayor Casey, Commissioner Forbes and the Car Wash owners met with Com Ed regarding the electrical feed, things are moving fast on the Car Wash, his plans include all new decorative sidewalks from the last house around the corner to the railroad tracks.

CITIZEN’S HEARING: Treasurer Roti reported the aluminum Can trailer is gone.

ADJOURNMENT: Motion made by Alderman Walsh, seconded by Alderman Kurysz to adjourn the regular meeting of the Hometown City Council.

MOTION STATED CARRIED

The meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm
