City of Palos Heights License, Permits & Franchises Committee met Aug. 10.

CALL TO ORDER
Chairman Lewandowski called the meeting to order at 7:26 p.m. In attendance were Alderman Basso, Alderman McGrogan, Alderman McGovern, Building Commissioner Chris Kransberger (electronic), and Recording Secretary Margaret Carey. Also in attendance was resident, Ewa Jarzabek.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the minutes of the July 13, 2021 meeting, seconded by Alderman McGrogan. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.
PERMIT & CODE ENFORCEMENT REPORT
Chairman Lewandowski referred to the permit report in the agenda packet. For the permit period from July 8, 2021 – August 4, 2021, the City has collected $30,655.36, with 89 permits issued. There were 15 code enforcement cases and 28 inspections for that same period.
BUSINESS LICENSE REPORT
For the 2021 business licenses, $66,817.00 has been invoiced and $63,701.00 has been collected thus far.
VEHICLE STICKER REPORT
For the period May 17, 2021 – August 4, 2021 approximately 6,880 stickers were sold and $155,585.00 was collected.
DRIVEWAY REQUEST – 12951 Choctaw Road (Jarzabek)
Ms. Jarzabek apologized for starting the project without a permit and explained she is trying to add to the width of her driveway to accommodate additional vehicles in her household. The Committee discussed and reviewed the submitted drawing. The proposed expansion would include paving over a public utility and drainage easement.
Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to approve the Driveway request for 12951 Choctaw Road. There was no second. The motion failed.
PERMANENT SIGN REQUEST – 12345 S. Harlem Avenue (JC Licht / Benjamin Moore) Commissioner Kransberger explained the request. The owners want to replace the current awning. The only part of the sign not in code is the “JCLight”, which is 4” larger than code and the triangle image which is 5” above code. The committee discussed.
Alderman McGrogan made a motion to approve the Permanent Sign request from JCLicht, seconded by Alderman McGovern. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously. AGENDA

OLD BUSINESS
Alderman McGovern spoke regarding video gaming and said he would like to have a longer discussion at the next meeting. He wanted to remind the Committee that the prior referendum was non-binding.

There being no further business, Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderman McGovern. All in favor.
