Village of East Hazel Crest Village Board met Aug. 25.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Officials: Mayor Thomas A. Brown and Clerk Minnis

Roll Call: Trustees Kearns, Johnson, Ewan, Wideman & Ortiz present; Tr. Forte was absent.

Also present were PW B. King, PD Chief Janich, FD Deputy Chief Mills, P. Newton, J. Hale and H. Kearns.

Invocation & Pledge. Silent invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Minutes: Trustees Ortiz and Wideman made the motions to approve the minutes of the 7/28/21 Water Systemlmprovement Mtg. & Regular Mtg. of the Board held on 7/28/21. All trustees present were in favor (Tr. Forte was absent). Mtn. carried.

Reports of Village Officials:

Mayor's Report:

1) Ord. 21-04, Pertaining to the Corona Virus Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. Trustees Ortiz and Kearns made the motions to adopt

Ord 21-04. Roll Call: All trustees present voted aye; Tr. Forte was absent. Mtn. carried.

2) POLICY - Whistleblower. Trustees Ewan and Ortiz made the motions to adopt Whisteblower Protection POLICY. All trustees present were in favor; Tr. Forte was absent. Mtn. carried.

3) IGA Truck Enforcement with Homewood. Trustees Wideman and Ewan made the motions to authorize the Mayor and the Clerk to execute the Agreement with the Village of Homewood for Truck Enforcement. Roll Call: all trustees present voted aye; Tr. Forte was absent. Mtn. carried.

4) Intergovernmental Agreement with Homewood for Temporary Housing of Arrestees. Trustees Johnson and Kearns made the motions to approve the IGA for temporary housing of arrestees.

Roll Call: all trustees voted aye; Tr. Forte was absent. Mtn. carried.

Mayor Brown reported receiving notification from IRMA commending the Village for no accidents in 2020 for all departments.

Clerk: Girl Scouts of Chicago and Greater NW Indiana is requesting permission to sell their Fall Products Door to Door from Sept. 21 to Oct. 20, 2021 and the COOKIE sales Door to Door from Dec. 15 to Jan. 17, 2022. Trustees Johnson and Ortiz made the motions to approve the request. All trustees present were in favor; Tr. Forte was absent. Mtn. carried.

Administrator's Report: Administrator Lazuka was absent.

OPEN TO VISITORS:

Trustees Ortiz and Johnson made the motions to open this segment of the meeting to the public. All trustees present were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:13 pm

Mayor Brown noted the response to the complaint made to the Children & Family Service about sexual activity at the Park on 174th Street and the PD investigation into the complaint. EH CPD found no evidence of such activity.

CLOSE TO VISITORS - There being no input from those present, Trustees Wideman and Ortiz made the motions to close this segment of the meeting. Time: 7: 16 pm

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Streets:

Finance/License:

1) Trustees Johnson and Keams made the motions to approve payment of all bills on the Claims Sheets dated 8/11/21 in the amount of$22,947.38 and on Claims Sheets dated 8/25/21 in the amount of $56,164.03 for a total of $79,111.41. Roll Call: all trustees present voted aye; Tr. Forte was abs. Motions carried.

2) Trustees Johnson and Ortiz made the motions to approve the Home Occupation Permit application for GLAM SHOP at 916 W. 174th St. - Apt. 3. All trustees were in favor.

Tr. Forte was abs. Mtn. carried.

SIGNS: Tr. Keams reported Inspection Reports on all signs in the Village have been made.

HEAL TH/SAFETY/PERSONNEL; No report by Tr. Ewan.

WATER/SEWERS; No report by Tr. Wideman

POLICE/FIRE: Tr. Ortiz. read the EHCPD and EHCVFD reports for the month of July, 2021. These reports will be on file in the Clerk's office.
