Correspondence/Employee Recognition
• We received a thank you note from Olympian Kendall Coyne for supporting the Schofield Family Foundation. They had a fundraiser at Top Golf and several PHPD policemen participated, she was extremely grateful and appreciative.
• Officer Joe Carlson received an email thanking him for his guidance and continued support from a family that is dealing with alcoholism and trying to get a family member into rehab. Joe's efforts made a huge impact and hopefully a successful outcome.
• The Village of Palos Park and Chief of Police, from Palos Park, wrote a letter to extend their thanks to the PHPD for assisting them with a gas main leak. The incident required the closing of Rt. 7, Rt. 83, 119th street and 80th Ave, which involved re-routing of thousands of vehicles. Without their help they would not have been able to manage this incident safely.
• On behalf of AAIM(Alliance Against Intoxicated Motorists) they wanted to acknowledge3 officers from the PHPD- Officer William Moritz, Officer Forrest Marcinowski, and Officer Michael Moritz for their exceptional DUI enforcement, by awarding a Certificate of Appreciation in recognition of these life-saving efforts.
• Carol Heffernan, a resident from Palos Heights, expressed her gratitude to Officer Tony Delaney, she had a flat tire near 135th and Ridgeland, and Office Delaney offered assistance and she was very much impressed with his patience and kindness.

Aldermen's Comments
Chairman Basso complemented the Police Department on all of the recognition they have received. They make Palos Heights a wonderful place to live. Thank you to the Police Department.
Alderman Lewandowski asked why there has been a police presence at 123rd Place lately. Chief Yott said there were some speeding complaints in that area.
Alderman Clifford asked if the police department could send a letter to Trinity students reminding them about back to school – and to ask that students be careful driving around the neighborhoods.
Alderman McGovern thanked Chief Yott for sending a squad car to the funeral of Chicago Police Officer French.
Alderman Basso asked if we still have “Officer Friendly” or DARE in the schools. We do not.
Alderman Clifford asked how the “Cop on Top” event went? Deputy Chief Yott said his officers were at the Harlem Avenue Dunkin’ location. They did well raising money.
Alderman Basso inquired about the graffiti on the underpasses at Southwest Highway and the railroad overpass. If you have not seen it, you should take a look. He also inquired about a program to remove it, but the property is owned by the railroad and MWRD.
Adjourn
There being no further business, Chairman Basso made a motion to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Alderman McGovern. All in favor. Motion carried.
Meeting adjourned at 6:47 pm.
