City of Palos Heights License, Permits & Franchises Committee met Oct. 12.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

CALL TO ORDER

Chairman Lewandowski called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m. In attendance were Alderman Basso, Alderman McGrogan, Alderman McGovern, Building Commissioner Frank Giordano, and Recording Secretary Margaret Carey. Also in attendance was resident: Mr. Doyle.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Alderman McGrogan made a motion to approve the minutes of the September 14, 2021 meeting, seconded by Alderman McGovern. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.

PERMIT & CODE ENFORCEMENT REPORT

Chairman Lewandowski referred to the permit report in the agenda packet. For the permit period from September 9, 2021 – October 6, 2021, the City has collected $33,291.82, with 81 permits issued. There were 6 code enforcement cases and 7 inspections for that same period.

BUSINESS LICENSE REPORT

For the 2021 business licenses, $72,490.00 has been invoiced and $65,367.00 has been collected thus far.

VEHICLE STICKER REPORT

For the period May 17, 2021 – October 6, 2021 approximately 7,030 stickers were sold and $159,635.75 was collected.

DRIVEWAY REQUEST – 12620 S. 76th Avenue (Doyle)

Mr. Doyle explained he would like to expand the width of his driveway to accommodate an area where vehicles can back out of the garage to turn around and exit the driveway going forward onto 76th Avenue. He states that backing up onto 76th Avenue is dangerous. The Committee reviewed the drawings and discussed options.

Alderman McGrogan made a motion to approve the Driveway request for 12620 S. 76th Avenue with a 25’ max width at the right-of-way and at least 10’ off the property line, seconded by Alderman McGovern. On a voice vote, the motion passed unanimously.

NEW BUSINESS

Alderman Basso discussed the need for clearer drawings with the variance requests. Building Commissioner Giordano said he will explain codes to the applicants and assist residents with providing clearer diagrams.

ADJOURNMENT

There being no further business, Alderman Lewandowski made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Alderman McGovern. All in favor.
