Village of East Hazel Crest Board met Oct. 27.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

Officials: Mayor Thomas A. Brown, Administrator Lazuka and Clerk Minnis

Roll Call: Trustees Forte, Keams, Johnson, Ewan, & Wideman were present; Tr. Ortiz was absent.

Also present: PD Chief Janich; FD Deputy Mills, PW J. White, H. Keams, M. Fernandez, P. Newton, J. Hale, Rosa Villa, L..Dutka and Linda, S. Connelly, Mr & Mrs. Murry, and Jim Hansel.

Invocation & Pledge. Silent invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.

Minutes: Trustees Johnson and Forte made the motions to approve the minutes of the 10/13/21 regular meeting. All trustees present were in favor. Mtn. carried.

Reports of Village Officials:

Mayor's Report:

1) IGA with Cook County Dept. of Public Health in making health inspections. After a brief explanation by Mayor Brown, Trustees Keams and Forte made the motions to authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute the Intergovernmental Agreement. All trustees present were in favor. Tr. Ortiz was absent. Mtn. carried.

2) Item 2 was stricken from the Agenda.

Administrator's Report:

1) Corrosion Study Cost. Adm. Lazuka explained this COST STUDY was a study for a new source of Chicago water for the Village thru the Village of Homewood, Trustees Johnson and Forte made the motions to approve the STUDY. Roll Call: all trustees present voted aye.

Tr. Ortiz was absent. Mtn. carried.

Clerk: No report by Clerk Minnis

OPEN TO VISITORS:

Trustees Forte and Johnson made the motions to open this segment of the

Meeting to the public. All trustees present were in favor. Mtn. carried.

Time: 7:05 pm

Paula Newton inquired about the status of the Casino bid. Mayor Brown responded that The Calumet City and Lynwood bids were rejected and the HW/EHC bid and the Matteson bids will be discussed at a meeting tomorrow.

S. Connelly spoke of tree limbs from a tree in her front yard are problematic for her and she inquired if the tree was her responsibility or that of the village. Village maintenance will view the situation to determine whose responsibility it is to rectify.

Jim Hansel spoke of the $3,700.00 bill his mother received for culvert replacement on 172nd Street. Jo Ann Murry and L. Dutka, complained about the culvert replacements bills they received. After a brief discussion, Mayor Brown said he would have village engineers review the bills.

M. Fernandez acknowledged 'culverts' are the responsibility of the home owner. He complained about trucks using 174th Street and asked for more Police coverage of the problem. He also complained about trash on 175th St in the 1200 block for over a week,.

There being no other input from those present, Trustees Keams and Johnson made the motions to close this segment of the meeting to the public. All trustees were in favor. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:44 pm

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Streets: Tr. Forte had nothing to report.

Finance/License:

1) Trustees Johnson and Keams made the motions to approve all bills on the Claims Sheets dated 10/27/21 in the amount of $67,203.83. Roll Call: all trustees present voted aye;

Tr. Ortiz was absent.. Motions carried.

SIGNS: Tr. Keams had nothing to report.

HEAL TH/SAFETY /PERSONNEL; No report by Tr. Ewan .

WATER/SEWERS; No report by Tr. Wideman

POLICE/FIRE: Tr. Ortiz.was absent.

UNFINISHED BUSINESS: none

NEW BUSINESS: Tree limbs and grass pick up are made on the l " Monday of every Month beginning in November. Clippings must be bagged.

American Legion Post 1139 has requested use of the 1906 Room on 11/8/21. Trustees Keams and Johnson made the motions to approve the request. All trustees present were in favor; Tr. Ortiz was absent. Motions carried.

Announcements:

-Deputy Fire Chief Mills noted the EHCVFD annual Halloween Party for children will be on Sunday, October 31, 2021 beginning at 1 pm.

-On Thursday, October 28th at 1 ;00 pm. CASINO MTG.

Executive Session _ none

Adjournment: Trustees Forte and Johnson the motions to adjourn. All trustees present were in favor; Tr. Ortiz was absent. Mtn. carried. Time: 7:59 pm
