Village of Lansing Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met Nov. 3.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER:

A regular meeting of the Board of Fire and Police Commissioners was called to order at 5:00 p.m. at the Lansing Municipal Center.

ROLL CALL:

In attendance were Chairwoman Cuthbert, Commissioners Barajas, Collins, and Vitiritti.

PUBLIC FORUM:

Carl Vandermolen was in attendance. He will be appointed to the Commission at the next village board meeting on November 16, 2021.

Also in attendance were Fire Chief Chad Kooyenga and Deputy Chief John Grady. They brought information regarding different testing companies – National Testing Network (TNT) and C.O.P.S. and F.I.R.E. Personnel Testing Service. Both of these services also have recruitment services in addition to administration of testing. Chief Kooyenga will email the information to the commissioners.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

Commissioner Collins made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Barajas to approve the October 6, 2021 minutes. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

APPROVAL OF BILLS:

Commissioner Vitiritti presented the following bill for payment -

Firefighters Bookstore - $513.98

Commissioner Barajas made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Collins to approve the bill as presented. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.

OLD BUSINESS:

The commissioners reviewed the five (5) firefighter/paramedic applications returned for the November 13, 2021 written exam. The interviews for candidates passing the written exam will be held on Wednesday, November 17th beginning at 6:15 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS:

Per Ordinance 21-045 which was passed by the village board on November 2, 2021, the mayor will be appointing the chairperson and secretary of the Commission. The ordinance was silent on a vice-chairperson.

ADJOURNMENT:

Commissioner Vitiritti made a motion, seconded by Commissioner Barajas to adjourn the meeting at 6:15 p.m. The motion carried with a unanimous voice vote.
