Part-Time Job Available - 50-Acre Park Barn
The Village of Evergreen Park is now hiring a part-time Assistant Farm Manager. We are seeking a responsible, hardworking person who is comfortable with farm animals; specifically, horses, goats, chickens and cats. Also, a friendly demeanor is required, as the farm hosts Village events, field trips from neighboring schools and day camps, and holds daily classes for students with special needs.
Primary Duties Include:
-Supervise the daily feeding, cleaning and care of animals.
-Train others on the proper care and handling of animals.
-Develop cleaning schedules and assign volunteers to specific areas.
-Help coordinate and set-up farm classes and programs with the Farm Manager.
-Conduct tours of the barn.
-Interact with visitors and share knowledge regarding the farm and animals.
ALL OF THE ABOVE DUTIES NEED TO BE CONDUCTED IN A SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE MANNER.
Environmental/Physical Demands:
Work is performed at the farm (91st and Rockwell) with exposure to live animals as well as hay and fee. Work is frequently performed outdoors with exposure to hot and hold weather and related conditions. The candidate will be required to lift heavy objects weighing up to 50lbs.
Work Schedule:
The barn is open and needs to be staffed 365 days a year. The work schedule for this position is 3 days a week for a total of 19 hours.
Monday 7:00a.m.-12:00p.m. and 2:00p.m.-3:30p.m.
Wednesday 7:00a.m.-12:00p.m. and 2:00p.m.-3:30p.m.
Saturday 7:00a.m.-11:30a.m. and 2:00p.m.-3:30p.m.
