For the second consecutive season, Trinity Christian College women's basketball (14-14, 9-13 CCAC) is heading to the CCAC Playoffs. They punched their ticket after a 70-61 victory over Lincoln College (7-17, 7-15 CCAC) on Saturday afternoon inside DeVos Gymnasium. The win also puts the Trolls back at the .500 mark and allows them to play in the NCCAA Tournament.
A senior day celebration on Saturday for Summer Cramer, Jasmine Glover and Gabby Kreykes was capped off by another masterpiece from Kreykes. She gave the home crowd plenty too cheer about, scoring 31 points and corraling 19 rebounds. She nearly posted a triple-double going for seven assists.
Lincoln College had a 3-2 lead in the first 28 seconds. It was the final time they'd lead the rest of the game. Kreykes helped fuel an early 8-0 Trolls run when she buried a pair of triples and had 10 points in quarter one.
In the second quarter, it was sophomore Faith Davis coming off the bench and hitting a three-pointer. The Trolls lead was 25-14. Trinity eventually went into halftime leading by 14 points.
The Trolls grabbed their largest lead of the night when Davis hit a three-pointer to open the fourth quarter. Trinity led 58-41. The Trolls held down a late Lincoln blitz but Kreykes put an exclamation point on the the day with one final layup to give the Trolls a 70-61 win.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Freshman Hannah Schuringa scored only seven points but pulled in 13 rebounds to tie a career high.
- Cramer scored 14 points and hit three, three-pointers. She ends the regular season averaging just under three, three-pointers per contest.
- Glover scored eight points and hauled in six rebounds.
- Trinity outrebounded Lincoln College 55-42. Trinity went for 23 second chance points.
UP NEXT: The Trolls will play the 2021-22 CCAC Regular Season Champs, #18 Saint Xavier University. Trinity lost both meetings this season. On Dec. 1, the Trolls fell 88-75. On Dec. 21, Trinity fell by a final of 85-63. Saint Xavier is currently riding a 14 game winning streak. The CCAC Quarterfinal matchup will be held at Saint Xavier on Tuesday, Feb. 22. A time is TBD.
