Meetingroom04

City of Hometown Finance Committee met Feb. 22.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

Call to Roll Call: The Finance Committee meeting of the City Council of the City of Hometown was called to order by City Treasurer Salvatore Roti at 7:35 P.M.

Roll call indicated that the following committee members were present:

Aldermen Beyer, Reynolds and Banasiak. Quorum present

Also present were Aldermen, Zak, Kurysz, Barnhouse, Grochowski, Smith and Walsh.

Treasurer Roti stated we will start with the anticipated revenue sheets. You will notice State Income Tax has increased. Turning to the expense worksheet, the only item on the Corporate wish list is a senior van, so we would no longer have the Pace lease which also has several federal guidelines and restrictions. We approved a PW truck last year and it was never purchased, now the cost is $125,000.00. There needs to be more details on specs from the director. Alderman Barnhouse stated the truck they have is undersized, Mayor Casey stated we need to switch to LED and not worry about a bucket. There was one quote left on my desk, we need more information, he will be asked to attend the next meeting.

Alderman Beyer asked if the retention in the Police Department has been better due to the wage increase. Mayor Casey stated yes, we are more competitive now, but we recently lost eight (8) officers to full time departments. Pay wise we are good; we just want to be stable. The Chief offers great training and equipment, a safer community than most. The Chief’s wish list is mostly mandates from the State, body camera’s, software, IT services and normal raises. Part-time Police can only work a certain number of hours.

March 8th is a Committee of the Whole after the regular meeting. Treasurer Roti stated Corporate is good, the water budget is good, we should have the library budget early March and the Rec a little later.
