Monday's are usually the worst. Trinity Christian College baseball (6-15, 2-6 CCAC) begs to differ.
The Trolls went on the road and dominated Lincoln College (0-15, 0-6 CCAC) by a final of 13-2. Trinity scored in each of the first five innings and took advantage of eight Lincoln errors. On the mound, it was a stellar performance from junior Jake Ostrowski and senior Jordan Cruz. Ostrowski went four innings and allowed two runs. He struck out eight. Cruz guided Trinity in the final three innings to earn the win. He didn't allow a run.
Lincoln took a 2-1 lead after the first inning, but in the second, sophomore Oli Carmody singled to tie the score at two. Junior Mike Moralez continued the scoring with an RBI single. Trinity led 3-2 after two.
Errors mounted in the third inning for Lincoln, and the Trolls scored two runs on a throwing error. A wild pitch scored senior Nicolas Gutierrez and Trinity had a commanding 6-2 lead.
Junior Jordan Veldman had a big day at the plate and in the fifth inning his RBI double extended the Trolls lead to 11-2. Veldman finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and two walks.
Cruz wrapped up the game with a three-up, three-down seventh inning and the Trolls went on for the 13-2 victory.
NOTES & NUMBERS:
- Junior Brock Bolser went 3-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI. Bolser is now hitting .321 on the season.
- Sophomore Miles Williams went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI.
